Student Quick Reference

Here you will find the latest information regarding student participation in the conference. For those of you looking for information on 'Distance Participation', it can be found here.

Please click HERE for a template letter to use in your attempts to secure funding to subsidize the costs of attending the conference. When looking for funds to attend the conference, we suggest starting with the Chair of the department in which you are doing your major. Then you can try the Dean of your Faculty, if applicable, and then the President or Director of your post-secondary institution. Also ask your Student Council or Student's Union of course! Outside of your school, you can try asking various community groups that may be concerned with the sorts of issues to be addressed at the conference (some religion-based organizations, for instance), pharmaceutical companies, local businesses and last but not least, your local MLA and MP.

Costs: To determine how much your trip to the conference will cost you, factor in the following:

  • The fee for Student registration for the conference is $60.00 CDN, or $40.00 U.S.
  • If you plan on staying at Coady International Institute, the cost is $45 for accommodations for the duration of the conference. Other rates for accommodation are available here.
  • Roundtrip airfare to Halifax International Airport.
  • Also, you ought to factor in the price of roundtrip bus fare to and from Antigonish from the Halifax International Airport. Or alternately, shuttle information which will be posted on the same page shortly.
  • The only meal not covered by your registration fees is supper on Friday evening, so please bring enough money to pay for this meal. There will be specials at businesses around town, and information about them will be posted as it becomes available. Also, it is always wise to bring a small amount of spending money, in case of emergency or if you think you will want to do some shopping while in Antigonish.

Calculating the above should give you an idea of the total costs of your attendance at the First Canadian National Undergraduate Bioethics Conference. If you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to contact us for assistance!
