In hosting the 2005 conference, we hope to foster and continue a tradition of National Undergraduate Bioethics Conferences in Canada similar to the rich and steadfast tradition of National Undergraduate Bioethics Conferences hosted in the United States (est. 1999). It is our hope that this conference will draw 100 participants from across the country and continue to form the foundation for conferences to come. To further this desire to cultivate a tradition of Canadian National Undergraduate Bioethics Conferences, we will also be accepting hosting bids for the 3rd and 4th conferences on behalf of the participating post-secondary institutions, through their student representatives.
This conference is being planned and organized by The U of T Undergraduate Bioethics Initiative at the University of Toronto. The goal of this group is to integrate and involve U of T undergraduate students interested in bioethics into interdisciplinary activities. (Examples include the JCB weekly seminar series and various summer employment opportunities). We also hold regular meetings and other activities that focus on relevant topics, while encouraging and engaging in discussion (including movies, guest speakers, etc).
